Our Classical Syria tours are 8-day cultural tours of the classical sites of Syria. There are opportunities to add on extension tours to Jordan and Lebanon if you wish.

Day 1

Arrival in Damascus: Transfer to your hotel in the old town of Damascus for the start of your tour of Syria.

Day 2

Damascus: Spend the first day proper of your tour taking in the many sites that the beautiful city of Damascus has to offer, including the National Museum, the souk of Takiyya as-Suleimaniyya, and the Azem Palace.

Day 3

Magnificent Palmyra: Spend day three of your tour discovering one of the most renowned archaeological sites in the world: Palmyra.

Day 4

Palmyra – Apamea – Aleppo: Journey northwest towards the ruins of Apamea, stopping at the city of Hama to admire the vast water wheels, then continue to Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city.

Day 5

Aleppo: This morning, we visit the beautiful church of St Simeon, before returning to Aleppo to spend the afternoon visiting the souqs and citadel of Aleppo.

Day 6

Palmyra - Crac des Chevaliers – Maaloula – Damascus: Day six of our Syria tour sees us returning to Damascus via the magnificent Crusader castle, Crac des Chevaliers, and the enchanting village of Maaloula, where the inhabitants still speak an ancient form of Aramaic.

Day 7

Bosra – Damascus: Today, the penultimate day of our tour of Syria, we drive south to visit the classical town of Bosra. After lunch, we drive back to Damascus.

Day 8

Departure from Syria: Today, we transfer to Damascus International Airport for the return flight to the UK, and the end of our tour of Syria.

Guides

Tours are accompanied by an experienced English-speaking local Syrian guide.

Accommodation

Accommodation on the tours is in 4* hotels or equivalent. We use the smaller boutique hotels in both Damascus and Aleppo.

Transport

Transport is by private, air-conditioned mini-bus.

Weather

Spring and Autumn are the most pleasant times to travel in Syria. The summer is hot and winter can be cold in some areas of the country. Please contact us for more detailed weather information.
