Syria FAQsAlthough slowly becoming popular for touring, Syria is still a fairly unknown destination, and our clients often have questions. We have compiled a short list of frequently asked questions for our Syria tours. If there is anything you are still unsure of, please get in touch with us. What are the Syria tour guides like?The local Syria tour guides are experienced, hard working, and good English speakers. Most people like to supplement their tour with reading and we do provide a recommended reading list. What vehicles will I be travelling in on tour?Throughout your Syria tour, you will travel in vehicles with seat belts and air-conditioning. The model is a 08/09 Hyundai H1 (Korean made). Can you arrange a tailor made tour itinerary?Yes we can. We can also arrange tours with only an English speaking driver if you prefer. Is it safe?Yes. Syria is fast becoming a busy destination. It has a good tourism infrastructure and extremely friendly welcoming people. What will the weather be like?Spring and Autumn are popular times to go – the weather is lovely with sunny days (temperatures from 20 – 30 degrees) The winter gets cold but with beautiful clear sunny days and hardly any visitors. How much spending money will I need?Please check your itinerary to see what is and what is not included. Some of your meals should already be included in your itinerary. If you like to shop you will need plenty of spending money and a small amount for tipping. What should I wear?Syria is a predominantly Muslim society, so shorts, leggings and tops with no sleeves are not appropriate for women, as are ‘tank-tops’ on men. Although Syria is pretty relaxed on dress you should wear loose baggy clothing to avoid unwanted attention. Do I need any vaccinations?There are no compulsory vaccinations for visitors but it is worth being up to date with tetanus, typhoid and polio. There is no risk of malaria in Syria. What do you suggest with regard to tipping?We will provide the information when you book. How many other people will be on my trip?If you book on a group tour, numbers rarely exceed 15 save but exceptionally. What will the accommodation be like?It depends what you are looking for…Syria has a good choice to choose from be it international 5* hotels or wonderful boutique 4 * hotels renovated from the houses in the old cities of Damascus and Aleppo. Outside of the cities the hotels are more of a 3* standard but clean and comfortable Do I need travel insurance?Yes and we can provide a full comprehensive insurance policy through Citybond Suretravel. Are there any passport or visa requirments?Your passport has to be valid for 6 months after your date of departure and we will be able to obtain your visa before your arrival in Syria. Please note holders of an Israeli stamp will not be allowed into the country. Would it be suitable for my children?Yes although some of the distances to drive are quite long. Are flights included?We can purchase your flights for you through British Midlands. |
