Lebanon FAQsIs it for me?It depends – if you are interested in ancient sites and history, great food, and lots of culture combined with a fantastic outdoors then yes it’s for you! Are you ATOL bonded?Yes, our number is 6694 How active will my trip be?It really depends on what you choose to do. We can tailor make a tour that can be as active or as inactive as you like. Can I opt out of certain activities? You can always opt out of an activity but, depending on the itinerary for that day, you may still need to travel with us as we’d be unable to provide a separate vehicle for you. Of course we can always tailor make a tour specifically for you. Is it safe?Yes – at the moment. Lebanon is a fragile country with but the tourism infrastructure is good and at no point in its history have tourists ever been targeted. We follow Foreign Office advice closely and would not travel there if it was unsafe. What will the weather be like?Spring and autumn are probably the best times to visit when temperatures are in the mid 20’s. Summer is extremely hot and winter cold where it often snows in the in the nature reserves and many of the roads are shut over the high passes. How much spending money will I need? Please check your itinerary to see what is and what is not included. Most of your meals should already be included in your itinerary, so you’ll just need enough for your personal spending – drinks in hotels etc. You will also need a small amount for tipping and shopping. What should I wear?Lebanon and particularly Beirut is very relaxed concerning dress. It is completely Westernised and people dress as we would here unless visiting a mosque or a more conservative city. If you are doing an activity you can wear comfortable clothing suitable to that activity. Do I need any special equipment? No – all equipment for any specific activity you are doing will be provided. You will just need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Do I need any vaccinations? There are no compulsory vaccinations for visitors but it is worth being up to date with tetanus, diphtheria and polio. There is no risk of malaria in Lebanon. What do you suggest with regard to tipping? It’s really up to you and what you feel your guide and driver deserve but we’d suggest allowing for $10 per day on groups up to four. How many other people will be on my trip?If you book on a group tour, numbers rarely exceed 14 save but exceptionally. What are the guides like? Our local guides and drivers are experienced, hard working and good English speakers. There are a number of really good female guides we work with and their knowledge is extremely good. What vehicles will I be travelling in?You will normally be travelling in a minibus or comfortable car or coach. All vehicles have seatbelts. Can you arrange a private itinerary for me?Yes we can. What will the accommodation be like?Lebanon has a good number of Internationally recognisable hotels to choose from – particularly in Beirut . You can choose from 4* or 5* hotels. There are one or two quirky smaller hotels such as The Palmyra hotel at Baalbeck which is well worth staying a night or two. Do I need travel insurance?Yes and we can advise a full comprehensive insurance policy through Citybond Suretravel. Travelling independently you can get your visa upon arrival and in a larger group we organise your visa for you.
