About Jordan In terms of tourism Jordan has been on the map for quite some time. It is a popular destination and rightly so for Jordan is a land rich in history; from the breath taking red-rose Nabatean city of Petra to the spectacular scenery of Wadi Rum, the miracle of the Dead Sea and the many crusader castles, monasteries and sites in the Jordan Valley there is so much to see and do. Infrastructure in Jordan is fantastic and there are plenty good four and five star hotel of an International standard throughout the country. Amman is a small but lively capital with a wonderful citadel and good restaurants and museums. Getting around is easy; the roads are in good condition and the distances not too great. There is also some great trekking to be had within the nature reserves and some hidden gems to stay in such as the eco lodge at Wadi Feynan that is candlelit by night and run on solar panels for electricity. If you are after some r and r the Dead Sea has some great spa hotels and the diving and snorkelling in the Red Sea in the resort of Aqaba makes for a great relaxing end to a tour. Politically Jordan is stable and safe and it is easy to get a visa upon arrival and to link a tour on into Syria which is a great way to see both countries. |
